UP govt approves Microbrewery plant in Uttar Pradesh

There has been a significant hike in the microbrewery market in India. Over time, the significant appeals of starting up businesses in the country have been heard. The opportunity to set up the microbrewery plant in India is done to boost tourism and bring about employment opportunities into the state. Yogi government, finally on Tuesday, approved setting up the pubs around hotels and resorts.

What is a microbrewery?

A microbrewery is a small unit that is set up to produce beer for general consumption. These are, however, mostly found in restaurants and hotels.

The Cabinet met the CM of the state to bring about changes in UP Brewery Rules 1961 and transform the UP Brewery (6th Amendment) 2019. This move has played an important role in bringing about the changes across the microbreweries of the state.

Nonetheless, with the amendment, the fixed amount of ₹25,000 (1974) for an annual license has been raised to ₹2.5 lakh along with a rise in renewal fee. Microbrewery  Plant in Uttar Pradesh. All the holders of a valid license for hotels, pubs can spy for the microbrewery. The application needs to be given to the state excise commissioner via respective district magistrate officer. The state excise commissioner would grant the permission as per the recommendation of the district magistrate.

Is there a limit for beer production?

According to the rules set by the commission, in the microbreweries, 600 liters of beer can be produced each day. In a year, an average of 210,000 liters of beer should be produced. This was revealed by the UP energy minister and state government spokesperson Shrikant Sharma. Anyone who violates the rules will need to pay a penalty charge of ₹5,000 per day.

The major attraction for tourists in Uttar Pradesh happens to be Noida, Varanasi, and Agra. These places not only receive domestic but international tourists as well. The government feels that setting up microbreweries in these places would be a refreshment for the tourists to try new beer and increase job opportunities along with excise revenue.

The cabinet has also approved to increase the monthly pensions for candidates in the 60-79 age group from ₹400 to ₹500. Further approvals have also been made by the government to bring about changes.
